Central Michel Richard, the fine dining restaurant that recently opened at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, already has a following. Most of this is due to being an outpost of Richard’s James Beard award-winning Washington, D.C, restaurant of the same name.
But for those seeking an upscale place to have a drink at Caesars Palace, the restaurant’s newly opened bar area may prove to be a destination of its own.
The wraparound double-sided white onyx bar is open to the resort’s registration lobby, making it a great place to sit and people watch. However I think it’s the drink offerings that will be the real lure.
Specialty beers on tap will include Chimay Cinq-Cents, Delirium Tremens, Old Speckled Hen, Newcastle, Kronenbourg, Stella Artois, Guinness, Sierra Nevada Pale Ale and Fat Tire. Also on tap, and one I’d really like to try, is Innis & Gunn Original, a rum-cask beer from Scotland that is supposed to have vanilla and toffee notes to it. Their bottled selection will also offer a great selection of Belgian and Dutch brews not usually found in the U.S. Beer prices range from $7 to $15.
Bourbon and whiskey fans will also appreciate the wide selection that includes 19 whiskeys, 21 Kentucky bourbons, 23 single-malt scotches and 6 blended scotches. Prices for these range from $9 for a single (Jim Beam, etc.) to $162 (Macallan 30-yr single malt).
Twenty-four wines by the glass are offered, with prices from $9 to $29. Cocktails, including their many exclusive creations, average in price from $12 to $15.
Central Michel Richard is open 24 hours a day, both restaurant and bar, so it also makes a good place to wind down an evening out on the town.
