Last year around this time, The Daily Beast put out a list of what they felt were “America’s Drunkest Cities,” and it proved so popular they decided to put out another edition of the list.

Their rankings aren’t based on just sales of alcohol, though. Their criteria included things like the average number drinks consumed per person according to market research, along with the percent of the population that claim to be heavy or binge drinkers according to data from the Centers for Disease Control.

The Romulans Didn't Make the List Again - Slackers!

Here is their Top Ten ranking for “America’s Drunkest Cities” for 2011:

1] Boston, MA
2] Springfield, MA
3] Milwaukee, WI
4] Reno, NV
5] San Antonio, TX
6] Chicago, IL
7] Austin, TX
8] St. Louis, MO
9] San Diego, CA
10] Tucson, AZ

Quite a bit of a shake-up from last year’s list, which had Milwaukee, WI at the top of the list. This year, that honor goes to Boston, which jumps from last year’s number eight spot.

Making their first appearance in the top ten this year are Springfield, San Antonio, Chicago, St. Louis, and Tucson.

Dropping off the top ten are Omaha, NE; Fargo, ND; San Francisco, CA; Anchorage, AK; and Burlington, VT.

If you want to see the rest of this year’s list – twenty-five in all – head on over to The Daily Beast.
