Fado Irish Pub in Miami Offers a Week of St. Patrick Day’s Events

Whether you’re Irish or not, St. Patrick’s Day seems to bring out the partier in all of us. Well, if you happen to be in Miami during that week, this year, may I suggest you partake of the festivities planned by Fado Irish Pub downtown?

That’s because Fado isn’t just holding a single day party. They’ve got a whole week of St. Patrick’s Day events planned.

Inside Fado Irish Pub in Miami, Florida

Starting on Saturday, March 12th, Fado Irish Pub will hold a different event each night. Among these will be a Guinness Dinner (a 3-course dinner paired with the Irish Trinity of Beers – Guinness, Harp and Smithwicks), the Miami Guinness Pint Pouring Championships, an Irish quiz night with prizes, and a jam session with some of Southern Florida’s finest Irish musicians.

All of this leads up to the day itself, March 17. On this day, Fado will hold an outdoor St. Patrick’s Day Festival inside the open air plaza at Mary Brickell Village, where the pub is located.

St. Patrick’s Day will start with a Pints and Pancakes breakfast (that would be pints of Guinness). The day will progress with outdoor beer gardens and a slew of live Irish music, including a special set by U2 cover bands The Picklebacks and USA-U2.

During the festival, the bar will also be giving away a trip for two to the Guinness Brewery in Dublin, Ireland.

So skip the green beer in Miami and drink the good stuff in honor of St. Patrick all week long.

Fado Irish Pub is located inside Mary Brickell Village at 900 South Miami Blvd, in downtown Miami. For more information on any of the week’s events, call them at 786-924-0972.

Near-Authentic Irish Debauchery at McGuire’s Irish Pub in Destin, Florida

Best known for its debauchery and drinks, McGuire’s Irish Pub in Destin, Florida, and its mother pub in Pensacola delivery on what they promise. Good drinks, good food, and the best happy hour specials in the whole northwest Gulf coast of Florida. Situated next to the popular Destin Pass, McGuire’s is one of the best places to stop in after a day on the water. Whether it’s their signature mega-drink, the Irish Wake, or one of the Happy Hour specials, you’re getting a good deal on a drink at McGuire’s.

The bar scene at McGuire’s Pub is usually a mix of locals and tourists. During the busy tourist season, the bar may be outweighed in tourists than locals, but they will always come for the good specials and live music.

The restaurant is home to McGuire’s own brewery where beer is made onsite as well as some of the best root beer in the country. Ales, Porters, and Stouts are brewed inside the restaurant, just steps from the bar where its served. Fresh, homemade beer (and root beer) is some of what McGuire’s is known for and known to bring patrons back for more.

Eating at the bar is not just for bar food. Real, authentically good food like $.18 Senate Bean Soup, traditional Reubens, and high-quality steaks is served unti the bar closes, sometime around 2am. Happy Hour drinks are 2-for-1 from 4pm – 6pm nightly, except Friday when Happy Hour starts at 3pm. McGuire’s knows how important it is to start good drink specials early on Fridays.

Since McGuire’s touts itself as a true Irish Pub, St. Patrick’s Day parties are in full swing for the whole week of March 17th. Live music and Irish specials are the perfect way to celebrate your Irish heritage, even if you’re not truly Irish.

I love trying out new restaurants and bars, especially when they’re opened by one of my already-favorite restauranteurs, Tijuana Flats. Tibby’s New Orleans Kitchen opened recently in Winter Park in an unassuming shopping center on Aloma Avenue. Set in next to Publix grocery store and a small movie theater, Tibby’s has a feelings of true New Orleans when you step inside.

Different from its sister restaurants, Tibby’s is a sit-down service eatery with a full bar set inside by the kitchen. Guests are greeted and sat at tables like at any sit-down restaurant, which is a nice change from the casual nature of Tijuana Flats. Plus, having a full-service bar adds to the nightlife possibilites at Tibby’s.
