I love it when a restaurant gets creative in their use of alcohol in creating desserts. So I was excited to try the Biramisu.

A Yummy Biramisu

You’ll find it on the dessert menu at the Portobello Restaurant at Downtown Disney in Walt Disney World, and if the name sounds like a play on the Italian Tiramisu, then you’ve got an idea of what this concoction is about.

Created by Chef Tony Mantuano (of Top Chef Masters fame), in collaboration with Portobello’s Executive Chef Steven Richard, the Biramisu is a take on that classic dessert.

The recipe features a beer reduction of the locally-produced Orlando Brewing Blackwater Porter, a dark ale with coffee and dark chocolate notes. To it, the chefs add mascarpone cheese, confectioner’s sugar, and Ladyfinger biscuits. The whole creation is then topped with whipped cream.

It’s a delicious fresh take on the classic dessert and a nice cap to a meal of yummy Italian food.

Try it for yourself on your next visit to Walt Disney World. You can find Portobello Restaurant at Downtown Disney, where Pleasure Island meets the Marketplace.
