There are some great bars and brewpubs in Las Vegas, and surprisingly, one of them is at New York New York Hotel and Casino.
The place is called Pour 24 and it’s not tucked away in some corner room at the hotel. It’s an open island-style bar that sits at the crossroads of several popular walkways, which makes it convenient to grab a beer as you enter or leave to go to the pedestrian bridges that cross the intersections of Tropicana Blvd and The Strip.
So, first the pluses of Pour 24.
The beer selection is really good. The bar features 24 different craft beers, including some from the locally-brewed Sin City line. You can order them by the pint or they have four different beer flights to try. They have a good variety of bottled brews, too, but most are of the traditional Miller/Corona/etc. type.
Another plus is that the 24 in the name not only refers to the number of draft beers available, it also alludes to the fact that the bar is open 24 hours a day (this is Vegas, after all). Yes, many bars in the city are also open 24/7, but not many have such a selection.
Ok, the drawbacks.
The price of beers here can be a bit of an ouch. Most drafts I tried were in the $7 range for a pint. Though considering some strip bars and clubs charge that much for a Budweiser-type of beer, I suppose it’s not too big a deal.
Also, if you’re looking for a cozy place with booths, this isn’t it. Seating, if it’s available, is mostly at the wrap-around bar (which is really pretty when lit up from underneath). Prepare to stand if it’s a busy night.
Bottom line is if you don’t want to leave The Strip to find a less expensive bar, you can’t go wrong with Pour 24′s craft beer selection. It’s also a great pre-show place to stop for a quick drink if you have tickets to Zumanity.
