Pop Champagne Bar

Cheers!

I don’t know about your city, but here in Los Angeles the hot thing is to have a food or beverage-themed bar.  Whiskey bar.  Wine bar.  Tapas bar.  And of course, champagne bar.

Technically, POP Champagne Bar is in Pasadena, but nobody knows where Pasadena is, so people who live there just say “outside LA” when you ask them where they’re from.  Just a quick drive up the 110 freeway from downtown (well, that’s without traffic, which is only from 2-3AM, so at least it’s a quick drive home), the location of POP might as well be in Los Angeles proper, so I say it counts.  Plus, I used to live there, which totally puts it on the map.  Pasadena, I mean.  Not POP.  I never lived at POP.

I know more than a few people who say their go to drink is Champagne, so I want people to know about this place.  As a go-to drink, I have to say, the bubbly is a little on the pricey side, with glasses running up to $19 each at POP.  But if price is any indication of quality, then this is the place to go.  Along with a mind-boggling and tongue-twisting list of fizzy vintages, POP also has “wines without bubbles,” food, and dessert.  Its advantageous location in the middle of Old Town Pasadena makes it an interesting place to meet for drinks before, during, or after whatever else you’re doing that night.  The bar hopes to make itself a destination with Sunday night live music, weekly brunch, and occasional special events like Bubbly Boot Camp, where you learn how to talk about Champagne without looking like an idiot.
