Music for FREE in Barcelona’s Green Spaces
In its 16th year, Music als Parcs is on now all over Barcelona (it stared up the first part of June 2011). Music als Parcs is just that, live music in many of Barcelona’s green, grassy areas. My favorite park to see some tunes in is Parc Ciutadella, one of the largest leafy places in downtown.
Expect all sorts of music, including opera, jazz, and classical. Here are a few to consider this July 2011!
OPERA OBSESSION:
Paula Nogueira, soprano, Daniela Sarmiento, mezzosoprano i Montse Pujol-Dahme, piano. Works by Monteverdi, Purcell, Haendel, Mozart, Bellini, Rossini, Offenbach, Puccini i Delibes
20 July: Turó Park
21 July: Jardí de les Infantes
JAZZ CONCERTS:
FIELDS QUARTET: Rafael Madagascar, Cristobal Massis, Santiago Acevedo, Nico Sánchez
20 July: Parc de Joan Miró
21 July: Jardí dels Drets Humans
FRÄNKEL QUARTET: Alejandro Fränkel, Sergi Sirvent, Salvador Toscano, Miguel Pintxo Villar
28 July: Jardí dels Drets Humans
29 July: Parc de la Pegaso
CLASSICAL:
ENSEMBLE UNA COSA RARA
Ana Melo, Naüm Monterde i l’Oriol Garcia performing W.A Mozart
22 July: Parc de la Ciutadella
27 July: Turó Park
Concerts begin (usually) at 10pm. Come early to get a spot in the grass. Bring your picnic and blanket and get comfortable. There may be nothing sweeter than free live music under the stars on a humid Barcelona summer night….
